WHY THIS SHARING SESSION

The more you understand, the less uncertain the next decision feels.

When facing cancer, many patients and families do not simply need another answer about whether to treat. What they often need is a clearer understanding of what the doctors are looking at now, how treatment options differ, and what questions should come next.

01

Understand first, then decide whether to seek further consultation

Many patients receive reports but still do not fully understand what the proposed treatment actually means. This session is designed to help you build a basic understanding without asking you to make any treatment decision on the spot.

02

Understand the differences between treatment approaches

From diagnosis and MDT review to radiotherapy, medication, and interventional treatment, each approach plays a different role. The doctors will explain the overall treatment logic in a more understandable way.

03

Know what to prepare for the next step

Pathology, CT, MRI, PET, genetic testing, and previous medications may all matter differently depending on the case. After the session, you should have a clearer idea of what reports and questions to prepare for your next consultation.

The goal of this sharing session is not to push you into an immediate decision. It is to help you understand your current situation more clearly before deciding what to do next.

MDT MULTIDISCIPLINARY REVIEW

Not one doctor making the decision alone, but a team of doctors discussing the case together.

For complex, recurrent, or metastatic cancer, treatment decisions often involve more than one specialty. MDT allows doctors from different disciplines to review the same case together and discuss a more complete treatment pathway.

What is an MDT review?

MDT stands for Multi-Disciplinary Team. Depending on the patient's condition, the discussion may involve oncology, radiotherapy, imaging, surgery, and other relevant specialties. The team reviews the disease from multiple angles including diagnosis, staging, local treatment, systemic treatment, and follow-up planning.

Single perspective

One doctor makes the decision

A doctor will usually assess the case from the perspective of his or her own specialty. This can provide a clear direction, but in complex cases one perspective may not fully cover every possible treatment option.

The focus is one specialty's clinical judgment.
MDT discussion

A group of doctors discusses the case

Doctors from different specialties review the same records, exchange opinions, and discuss what should come first, what may be combined, what may not be necessary yet, and what additional tests may still be needed.

The goal is not simply to have more doctors, but to make the treatment decision more comprehensive.

We will also explain during the session: why some patients need MDT review, why different doctors may sometimes give different recommendations, and how to tell whether a treatment plan has considered the overall clinical picture.

WHO IS THIS SESSION FOR?

Whether you are a patient, a family member, or simply trying to understand more treatment options, you are welcome to join.

You do not need to have decided where to receive treatment, and you do not need to have every report ready. If you still have questions, this session can help you organize your thinking first.

FOR 01
01

You are undergoing treatment but still unsure about the next step

You may already have had surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or other treatment, but are still unsure what should be evaluated next, what reports are missing, or what treatment directions may still be worth exploring.

Suitable for patients who want to understand how the next step is usually assessed.
FOR 02
02

You are a family member trying to understand the situation first

Patients are often already physically and emotionally exhausted. Family members may need to organize reports, treatment options, and questions on their behalf. You may join first, or attend together with the patient.

Suitable for family members who want to prepare better questions and support the patient's next decision.
FOR 03
03

You want to know whether there may be other treatment directions

If you are comparing radiotherapy, interventional treatment, medication, or other approaches, this session can help you understand how doctors usually think about and compare these options.

Suitable for anyone who wants another perspective before deciding what to do next.
There does not have to be a single “standard answer.” The purpose of the session is to help you identify the most important questions to clarify now, not to pressure you into making a treatment decision during the session.

WHAT WILL WE COVER?

This is not an online diagnosis. It is a session to help you understand treatment logic and key evaluation points.

We will break down the questions patients most commonly struggle with, so that when you next meet a doctor or arrange a consultation, you know what information matters and what questions to ask.

TOPIC 01

What medical information is usually reviewed first?

Pathology, imaging, staging, previous treatment, and genetic testing may each affect clinical decisions differently. We explain what information is usually most important and what can sometimes be added later.

TOPIC 02

When are different treatment approaches considered?

Surgery, radiotherapy, medication, and interventional treatment are not simply four separate choices. Doctors will explain how treatment sequencing and combination decisions are usually made.

TOPIC 03

After the session, you should know what to ask next

Not everyone needs to change hospitals or start a new treatment immediately. You may choose to gather more reports, arrange an individual consultation, or continue your current treatment. The important thing is to understand the next step more clearly.

TAKEAWAY

At minimum, you should leave with three clearer answers: What medical information do I still need? Which treatment directions are worth understanding further? What should I ask my doctor at the next consultation?

SPEAKERS
